EXTINCTION EVENT ATOMIC COMBAT!
“ATOMIC WAR” was heavily inspired by the original comic books put out by Ace Publishing in the 1950′s, depicting lurid apocalyptic scenarios of America’s fate in a nuclear war. We tried to capture some of that atomic age paranoia we remember during our upbringing in the sixties and create game mechanics that reflected the intricacy of Civil Defense planning for the unthinkable. The author is one of the youngest people ever certified as an emergency radiological officer in Lincoln, Nebraska in the U.S. to help report on radiation levels during reconstruction and decontamination efforts following a global nuclear war.
The game was finished and completely playable as a single player game originally in Objective C code back in 2010. It was obvious that the game needed a multiplayer mode that would support persistent city and fallout shelter construction for players. We have been rewriting it with better drag’n’drop and panning tools to show city infrastructure above and belowground, including elaborate blast and fallout shelters beneath the urban centres that you build cumulatively as in games like “Clash of Clans” and “Boom Beach” with the same cartoonish sensibility.
We are currently redesigning it as a free-to-play massively multiplayer game for all platforms using the Unity 3D engine.

The airburst maximizes blast effects but produces little fallout. Your civilians will require hardened shelters to survive these events.
Pure cobalt-60 radiation pelts the city. You better hope those civilians got better shielding in the last round of funding cuts.
